Big red "FU", traditional spring festival couplets, festive lanterns, and various holiday decorations fill the supermarkets, waiting to be picked by shoppers.

Shoppers said, "I'm here for spring festival couplets."

"I want some Chinese knots; they are perfect decorations for the Spring Festival."

2012 is the year of the Dragon. So it's no wonder that this Chinese zodiac animal is the star of the year. In China, this legendary creature is regarded as a symbol of auspicious power and good luck. So naturally, dragon-shaped dolls and New Year adornments decorated with dragon patterns are extremely popular at the market.

Retailers said, "The year of the dragon is coming, so these dragon-shaped decorations sell pretty well."

"I sell several dozens of ornaments like this."

Besides all kinds of goods, there are also traditional folk shows in the malls. Diabolo performances, sugar-figurine blowing, and paper-cutting.

A shopper said, "This reminds me of my childhood. We used to decorate the windows with paper-cuttings during the spring festival."
