This year marks the 40th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and The Democratic Republic of Congo. And in the intervening period, ties between the two nations have strengthened as contact and cooperation intensify. |
China helped the DR Congo build the Boulevard of June 30th',the five-kilometer main street in the capital city of Kinshasa. China also participated in the constructions of People's Palace - home to the Parliament of the DRC, and Stade des Martyrs, an 80,000 seat national stadium in the capital.
Large numbers of Chinese enterprises are also still active in the DR Congo. During an interview, the Vice Foreign Minister of the DR Congo spoke highly of the cooperation between the two countries - saying he appreciated China's efforts at infrastructure projects in his country.
DRC Vice Foreign Minister Ignace Gata Mavita said, "We have signed a series of mutually beneficial contracts with China. I believe that both of us will gain benefit from them. We found this new cooperative approach helps us shed our old cooperation strategy with western countries."
