China and Thailand have held a joint celebration in Bangkok to mark the first day of the Chinese Lunar Year. Thailand’s Queen Sirikit, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Chinese Vice Minister of Culture Li Xiaojie attended the ceremony.

The Chinese Ministry of Culture sent over 170 artists from across China. They are there to express their best wishes to the Thai people following the devastating floods in 2011.

The event will last until January 30. This is the eighth time both countries celebrate together the arrival of the Lunar New Year.
