The Hongqi Limousine series were the first Chinese domestically-produced passenger vehicles from the First Automobile Works. The Hongqi Brand, representing the epitome of premium luxury motor cars in China, has rightfully served as a source of immense pride for both the FAW group and Chinese autoworkers for over five decades.

Back story of Hongqi cars

In the Hongqi culture exhibition hall of the FAW Group in Changchun, we can see the development of Chinese vehicle manufacturing. In early 1958, the concept for the first Hongqi sedan began to take shape, thus giving birth to a legend among luxury motor cars that continues to the present day. The model CA770 Hongqi extended-length limousine was introduced in 1965, featuring the three-row seating.

Hongqi model defines the brand. The CA770 remained in production until 1981 in limited numbers.

In 2006 the new Hongqi series luxury sedans were launched and represented an exciting new chapter in Hongqi's rich and rewarding history.

In Chinese Hongqi means "red flag", a communist symbol with instant recognition. But to a certain group of engineers, Hongqi means a national aspiration and a renaissance of the domestic auto industry.
