In China's Henan province, a man gave his own life to save a mother and her two children from an icy river.

1000 villagers in Suiping county attend the funeral of the 58-year-old Li Guoxi.

On January 17th, Zhang Jingfeng was driving her motorbike back home with her two children, but the muddy roads sent the three careening into an icy river.

Zhang said, "My son and daughter were in the water and called me for help. But I could do nothing. I thought we would die if no one helped us."

Luckily Li Guoxi and Jin Qunxing were passing by.

Jin Qunxing, villager of Suiping County, Henan Province, said, "Li Guoxi saw them in the water and jumped into the river immediately. I did too after telling my wife to call the police. We dragged the mother and his son out of the water, and he went in again to save the girl. But he was out of strength after pushing the girl up to the bank."

The man succumbed to hypothermia, but half month later and people are still coming to the river to pay their respects to the hero - who inspired them with his bravery and sacrifice.
