An Egyptian protestor runs toward security forces to throw back a tear gas canister during clashes near the Interior Ministry in Cairo, Egypt, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. |
Local residents say the protests were affecting local businesses with shops closing down and cars destroyed.
Egypt has plunged into a new cycle of violence recently with 12 people killed in the last four days.
The clashes were sparked by anger at the authorities' inability to prevent a riot following a football match in Port Said last week that left 74 dead.
