Hundreds Killed in Syrian City of Homs. |
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that nearly 70 civilians were killed in Homs on Monday AMID the fiercest assault yet on the protest hub. Nearly 30 were killed in clashes elsewhere, including in districts near Damascus.
Meanwhile, it's reported that a school in the south of the country has come under attack by government troops.
Amateur video shows the school is in Inkhil city, in the southern province of Daraa. Students are heard screaming in Arabic that Assad loyalists are raiding the school. There have been past reports from rights activists of government forces detaining students from targeted schools.
The UN said last month that more than 5,400 people have been killed in Syria since the onslaught began in March.
