Premier Wen Jiabao meets Canadian PM

Premier Wen Jiabao has met with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who officially kicked off his three-city trip in China. The two sides held talks in Beijing to further enhance the Sino-Canadian strategic partnership, and signed an agreement on economic ties.

Harper arrived on Tuesday night at the invitation of Premier Wen, in his second official visit. He is also expected to meet with President Hu Jintao. Harper is in China with a large delegation of Ministers and Members of Parliament. Including the Foreign Affairs Minister, International Trade Minister, Natural Resources Minister, Agriculture Minister and Minister of State for Seniors.

Presidents of several key Canadian oil and gas companies are also travelling with their Prime Minister. The trip is expected by many in Canada to boost oil exports to China. Harper and his delegation will visit Guangzhou and Chongqing, wrapping up the trip on Saturday.
