Small detonations shook the capital of the Republic of Congo for a second day, after a fire inside a weapons depot set off a series of explosions. Another seven bodies were brought in to the morgue, bringing the number of dead to at least 213.

Damaged vehicles line a street after a series of explosions destroyed homes and buildings in the Mpila neighbourhood of Congo Republic's capital Brazzaville March 5, 2012.

That number is expected to rise as rescue teams begin clearing the debris including at St.

Louis Catholic Church where dozens of worshippers were attending Sunday Mass when the building buckled under the force of the blast.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that he was "profoundly saddened" by the arms depot explosions, and voiced the UN's support for assistance to relief operations in the African country.

Chairperson of the African Union Commission Jean Ping has expressed his sympathy to the nation and called on member states and the international community to provide assistance to the Congolese government.

Huge blasts at a munitions depot in the capital on Sunday killed over 200 people and left over 1,500 injured.
