China's national treasure, the giant panda, is creating more than just enjoyment for zoo visitors. A Chinese entrepreneur is growing tea in Sichuan's mountainous Ya'an region using panda faeces as fertilizer.

A Chinese entrepreneur is growing tea in Sichuan's mountainous Ya'an region using panda faeces as fertilizer. 



The first batch of "panda poo tea" will be sold in lots of 50 grams costing some 220, 000 yuan each, making it the world's most expensive tea at around 200 US dollars a cup. The seller says he plans to channel profits from the initial batches into an environmental fund.

After brewing the first pickings, the tea's taste got mixed reviews. Some described it as fragrant and smooth. Others, however, were not impressed.
