Around 130 people were injured in passenger trains collision on Saturday in west side of Amsterdam, capital city of the Netherlands. |
The accident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. local time when a train from Den Helder to Nijmegen and a train from Amsterdam to Uitgeest had a head-on collision. Both trains were damaged. Dutch railways company NS says all injured have been out of the trains.
Many of the injured were treated at the scene but dozens of ambulances and a helicopter were used to take the seriously injured to three hospitals in the Dutch capital.
The cause of the disaster is still unknown, however, an investigation will be started. The accident also disrupted Schiphol Airport train service. Officials say by Sunday normal services should be resumed.
