The case leader earlier talked about the role Nor Khan played, and the reasons why he was handed over to China by Laos.
Liu Yuejin, Mekong killings case leader, from Chinese Public Security Ministry, said, "From the evidence we have, the Mekong killings were committed by the Nor Khan group and other people in league with some lawless policemen. The killings were well planned, organized and implemented by the gang."
"There are three reasons for Laos to hand over Nor Kham to China. First, they hijacked Chinese ships, killed Chinese crew members on Chinese ships and abandoned Chinese bodies in the river. Second, for the efficient solving of the case, he should be handed over to China. Over the past half year, we have captured some of the key members of the Nor Kham group. They have given us information about the case. If Nor Kham is handed over to China, his words will be matched with other members’ confessions. It will benefit further investigation of the case. Thirdly, we have signed agreements with the Laos ministry of public security on cooperation and coordination on cross border crime. According to the agreements, he should be handed over to China."
