China's top legislator Wu Bangguo meets Croatian PM

China and Croatia have set the goal of promoting economic and trade cooperation.

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo urged Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic to fully exploit the huge potential. He called for transforming good political relations into fruits of cooperation.

Wu proposed expanding the scale of trade and gradually solving the trade imbalance.

He called for increasing cooperation in infrastructure construction and expanding two-way investment. He encouraged a prompt start for several landmark cooperation projects and a bilateral investment platform.

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo has held met with Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic in Zagreb. The two countries want stronger economic and trade cooperation. The aim is to promote each other's national economic and social development, and to consolidate ties.

Wu praised Croatia for rich tourism resources and said more Chinese should be encouraged to visit the country.

Zoran Milanovic said his government is looking forward to deepening economic and trade cooperation with China.

The two leaders later attended a signing ceremony for a memorandum on mutual investment cooperation.

Wu's visit is the first by a Chinese NPC Standing Committee chairman in 12 years.

Croatia is the second leg of Wu's four-European nation tour. Next are Luxembourg and Spain.
