Chelsea has won the Champions league for the first time in dramatic fashion.

Chelsea came from behind at Allianz arena in Munich during the first ninety minutes with Didier Drogba levelling after Thomas Mueller had put the home side ahead. After an uneventful extra time it was Chelsea who triumphed, winning the penalty shoot-out 4-to-3 with Bayern's star player Bastian Schweinsteiger hitting the post in his kick, just before Drogba shot the winning final shot.

Bayern's Mario Gomez, left, kicks the ball past Chelsea's Gary Cahill during the Champions League final soccer match between Bayern Munich and Chelsea in Munich, Germany Saturday May 19, 2012.

It was the fifth time Bayern has lost at this stage of the Champions league and the first victory for Chelsea who had only visited the final once before-in 2008 when they lost to Manchester United.
