Jia Qinglin welcomed guests from both sides, especially those from Taiwan, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and its General Secretary Hu Jintao. He pointed out four important steps in strengthening the cross-strait relationship. He hopes to solidify the political foundation and to promote economic cooperation. He also expressed his hopes to enhance the cultural base and improve social communication.

The event, which will feature 100 booths for Taiwan businesses, is expected to provide an essential platform for people from both sides to further expand exchanges in economy, trade, and culture. A series of beneficial policies for businesspeople from both sides are also expected to be unveiled during the forum.
