Typhoon Haikui has made its landfall in Zhejiang on the east coast of China and weakened to a tropical storm. It’s the third such storm to hit the country in a week.

Haikui is moving at 15 kilometers per hour northwest-ward into Anhui province and is expected to further weaken along the way. Heavy rain is expected in central and east China. Along its path, the storm has halted transportation and toppled houses.

As a result, more than one and a half million people in Zhejiang province and 250,000 residents in outlying parts of Shanghai have been evacuated.

Typhoon Haikui has made landfall in Xiangshan, part of Ningbo city in central China’s Zhejiang Province. It’s brought fierce gales and heavy downpours to the region. Many parts of Ningbo city are experiencing flooding.
