China, DPRK meet on building economic zones

China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have held their third meeting in Beijing on developing two economic zones in the DPRK. DPRK leader Kim Jong Un's uncle, Jang Song Thaek, attended.

Jang Song Thaek, chief of the central administrative department of the Korean Workers' party, arrived in Beijing on Monday, in the latest move signaling the country's search for ways to revive its economy. The joint economic projects are in Rason on the DPRK's coast, and in Hwanggumphyong and Wihwa Islands.

Both sides reached the consensus in the meeting that their cooperation has yielded impressive results, and entered the stage of substantial development. They have jointly compiled related plans that will contribute to new progress in training personnel, establishing telecom links, cooperating in agriculture fields, as well as building projects.
