Gas blast traps about 50 in SW china

Sources from the State Administration of Work Safety say about 50 miners have been trapped underground after a gas blast in a coal mine in southwest China.

The blast occurred at the Xiaojiawan coal mine in Panzhihua city, Sichuan province.

Officials from the State Administration of Work Safety and State Administration of Coal Mine Safety ordered the Sichuan Administration of Coal Mines to cooperate with the local government to carry out rescue work and prevent secondary incidents.

They also asked local authorities to further identify the number of people trapped underground.
