Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has held talks with visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Beijing. He told Clinton that China will work with the US to promote the Sino-US Partnership through mutual respect and cooperation.

For her part, Clinton acknowledged that pragmatic cooperation is the basis for bilateral relations. She also pointed out that the two sides had conducted a number of consultations and high level meeting over the past three and half years.

During her stay in Beijing, Clinton will meet with President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice President Xi Jinping and State Councilor Dai Bingguo. Maritime disputes, the Syrian crisis, the Iranian nuclear issue, and trade-relations are likely to be on Clinton’s agenda during her trip.
