The media center for the upcoming 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has launched its official website, www.cpcnews.cn. It offers service for both domestic and overseas press and readers.

The media center for the 18th CPC National Congress opens. [Xinhua]

The site aims to provide journalists and readers with the congress agenda, latest news, announcements and background information on past CPC national congresses in both Chinese and English.

Meanwhile, the media center itself has gone into operation at the Beijing Media Center Hotel. The center arranges coverage for activities related to the congress and provide necessary information and technical services. The 18th CPC National Congress is due to open on November 8th in Beijing.

Also on Thursday, the 7th plenary session of 17th CPC opened in Beijing. Its purpose is to prepare for the National Party Congress.
