16 panda ambassadors, or pambassadors, have gathered in the panda's hometown, Chengdu, to compete for three job vacancies in panda conservation.

Before they came to China, many worked in completely different fields, ranging from law to teaching to engineering. What motivated them to give up their promising careers to join this cause?

The giant panda, one of nature's finest creatures, is China's national treasure. But with less than 1600 wild pandas still alive, the species is on the verge of extinction. Sixteen panda ambassadors from eight countries gather in China, to compete for three job vacancies in panda conservation.
