China launches environment-monitoring satellite

China has launched an environmental monitoring satellite Huanjing-1C. The satellite was launched on the back of a Long March-2C carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China’s Shanxi Province.

The Huanjing-1C along with the previously launched Huanjing-1A, and Huanjing-1B satellites will monitor most of the country on a daily basis. It will keep an eye out for flooding, drought, typhoons and landslides.
