Cyril Despres, 2012 Dakar Rally Bike Champion, said, "We will experience a new and special route, quite a lot of kilometers. There are some surprises with high altitude. I started my training on July 1st this year, planning for this famous Dakar 2013, the nearer it comes, the more I have shaking knees and can’t wait to go there."

Stephane Peterhansel, 2012 Dakar Rally Car Champion, said, "During the year we prepare the car and we prepare ourselves physically. And then the process really starts a couple of weeks before the rally. Then it is really the joy of being there and the excitement that brings. We can see some beautiful countryside but also a couple of complications at the beginning of the route, so all of these are really exciting."
