The DPRK Central Broadcasting Station reported that an aircraft had been sent around the country to help deliver the candy to all DPRK school children aged 10 and under, in time for his January 8th birthday.
Kim reportedly chose to send the birthday treats by air because shipping routes may be affected by the cold weather. This act of generosity is part of an annual tradition started by Kim's grandfather Kim Il-sung in 1980. It's the first time Kim Jong-un has sent out candy to school children to mark his birthday since becoming DPRK leader in 2011.
