A baby panda cub at the San Diego Zoo in the United States has received a clean bill of health after a check-up.

It took three sets of hands to examine the baby panda cub, Xiao Liwu. Now more than five months old, the panda is gaining weight at the expected rate and is very healthy, weighing in at 8.8 kilograms and measuring 62.5 centimeters long.

San Diego Zoo resident veterinarians said the cub is "extremely well muscled". Vets also checked the cub’s eyes, teeth, heart and lungs, which wasn’t without its challenges, considering the cub, like most children, doesn’t want to sit still for very long.

The San Diego Zoo’s giant pandas are on a research loan from China. Xiao Liwu is on display to the public at the zoo two hours every day.
