A clear up operation has begun in Russia, after Friday's meteor impact injured over a thousand people, and caused widespread damage across the Chelyabinsk region. Work has already begun to replace around 200 thousand square meters of glass, shattered by the strike.

The burning meteor seared through the atmosphere on Friday morning, creating a shockwave that blew out windows in more than 4,000 buildings. Over 1,200 people were injured, most suffering cuts from flying glass.

Fifty people remain in hospital, although none are thought to be in a life-threatening condition. The damage caused by the meteor strike is estimated to be worth 33 million US dollars.
