Xi Jinping meets KMT honorary chairman

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Xi Jinping has stressed the Partys duty and confidence in peacefully developing mainland-Taiwan relations.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Xi Jinping, has met with visiting Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang, Lien Chan, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. [Xinhua] 

Xi Jinping made the statement while meeting with visiting Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang, Lien Chan, in Beijing. He said the new CPC leadership is aiming to boost cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation that will improve the welfare of compatriots in both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Xi Jinping, has met with visiting Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang, Lien Chan, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping also expressed his hope the two sides will cooperate in rejuvenating the Chinese nation. Lien Chan said legal and institutional systems on both sides of the Strait have implemented the "one-China" principle. Lien also said people from both sides should promote brotherhood and mutual understanding, resist separation and reinvigorate the Chinese nation.

A delegation of more than 30 politicians and business people lead by Lien Chan are on a 3-day trip to the mainland. His visit is expected to boost mutual trust between the CPC and the KMT.
