In his new role, Beckham is expected to help bring the Chinese Super League, the CSL, onto the world stage and promote the game in the world's most populous country.

A Chinese Football Association official says 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of professional football in China and the special ambassadorship of David Beckham will attract global attention to Chinese football and the CSL.
