South Korea has conducted routine military drills near the demilitarized zone, amid rising tensions in the Korean Peninsula.
The Wednesday drill involved 30 tanks and hundreds of troops. The military was also put on high alert along the demilitarized zone in case of any emergency.
The drill coincides with the US, and South Korean annual joint exercises that began on March 1st. "Key Resolve" involves the mobilization of more than 10-thousand South Korean and 3,500 US military personnel.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has condemned the manoeuvres as a provocative invasion rehearsal. It announced on Monday that it was scrapping the 1953 Armistice Agreement, and voiding Non-aggression Treaties signed with South Korea.
