S. Africa welcomes Xi Jinping

President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan have been warmly welcomed to South Africa by President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday.

Later, Xi Jinping also held a meeting with his South African conterpart. In their meeting, the two exchanged views regarding strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries under changed global circumstances. The two leaders also discussed African regional issues and the fifth summit of BRICS being hosted in Durban.

Following their talks, Xi and Zuma are to witness the signing of agreements on trade, economic cooperation and education. Since China and South Africa established diplomatic relations 15 years ago, bilateral ties have been on the fast-track, with cooperation booming in the fields of trade, education, tourism and technology.
