It's that time of year again where excitement grows in the Chinese capital for the year's upcoming summer blockbusters for 2013, it's "Iron Man 3". It was filmed partly in China with Chinese characters, and now the wait is almost over - the Iron Man himself is here. The premiere ceremony took place on Saturday and really pumped up the atmosphere among film and comic fans.

Actor Robert Downey Jr. travelled all the way to Beijing to promote "Iron Man 3", the brainchild of both Hollywood and Chinese studios.

Downey - whose character is playboy-turned-superhero, Tony Stark, in the upcoming movie - says he's fascinated with Chinese culture and loves Chinese movies.

\He also recalled some thoughts on working on the scene with respected Chinese actor, Wang Xueqi.

Robert Downey Jr., Actor, "Iron Man 3", said, "You could work with somebody and never connect with them, and you speak the same language."

Wang Xueqi, Actor, "Iron Man 3", said, "I remember my first scene in the United States. I didn't hear the word 'action' from the director. Robert was lying in front of me, he heard it, but he wasn't supposed to speak, so he winked at me to give me a hint. I was very grateful. When people work together, they support each other. "

Downey then sampled some "Tanghulu", the traditional Beijing toffee-covered haw fruit snack on a stick. He was hugged by a small boy who told him he loved him.

Mu Fangzhou, CCTV Reporter, said, "It's every boy's wish to become a superhero like him. The tradition is that on every premiere of the previous Iron Man movies, the armor will be sent to the scene. So here in Beijing, we are having the world premiere of Iron Man 3. The better news is that Chinese fans are blessed to have an extended cut from the director himself."

Iron Man 3 was co-produced in China under a joint agreement between Marvel Studios, Paramount Pictures and China's DMG Entertainment, the latest in a series of tie-ups between Hollywood and China, where movie-going is growing fast.

Wu Bing, Co-Producer, "Iron Man 3", said, "This is probably the best way to introduce Chinese culture to the world. It is also our core mission. Working on 'Iron Man 3' is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it's a well-known figure in the Marvel Universe, and an established brand in the film industry."

Chinese fans may also get a chance to see the opening a few days ahead of overseas markets, which may upend the old Hollywood playbook, and prove that overseas markets are a driving force for Hollywood.
