The former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, has died after suffering a stroke. She was 87.

Flags are flying at half-mast over the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street, the prime minister's official residence. The British government says a ceremonial funeral with military honors will be held at London's St Paul's Cathedral.

In line with her family's wishes, the ceremony will not be a full state funeral. Further details about the funeral will be released over the next few days. Buckingham Palace has said Queen Elizabeth is "sad to hear the news of the death of Baroness Thatcher and will send a private message of sympathy to the family."
