A special session of the House of Commons in the UK saw MPs pay tribute to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who passed away on Monday.

Prime Minister David Cameron led the way addressing a packed room of MPs, many of whom had returned early from Easter break. He said that Thatcher had had a remarkable career and made "Britain great again".

A special session of the House of Commons in the UK saw MPs pay tribute to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who passed away on Monday.

Legislators hailed a string of Thatcher's achievements, from privatisation of state-run industries to the reclaiming of the Malvinas Islands after Argentina's 1982 invasion. But some lawmakers criticised her legacy, in particular the negative effects of her free-market economic policies.

Several left-wing legislators skipped the session altogether. Ed Miliband, leader of the main opposition Labour Party, said Thatcher was "the prime minister who defined her age." But he said he disagreed with much of what she did as Prime Minister.
