China has confirmed 3 new cases of the H7N9 bird flu in Jiangsu Province, and five new cases in Zhejiang Province, bringing the total number of infections across the country to 71.

One of the newly infected patients is in critical condition. So far, Beijing and Shanghai and four provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Henan have reported bird flu infections. The death toll now stands at 14. The seven-year-old infection in Beijing can get out of the hospital Wednesday.
