7.0-magnitude earthquake jolts Sichuan

There is an earthquake which has jolted southwest China. China Earthquake Networks Center says a magnitude 7.0-tremor hit Lushan countyof Ya'an city in Sichuan province early Saturday. The latest reports are that 2 people have died, according to local government sources.

Ya'an is 120 kilometers away from provincial capital Chengdu and has a population of 1.5 million. The epicenter, at a depth of 13 kilometers, was monitored at 30.3 degrees north latitude, and 103.0 degrees east longitude, and was felt in the Chengdu, and Leshan city. The Shuangliu International airport in Chengdu has been closed.
