Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid has arrived in Beijing on a two day visit to China. Arriving Thursday, he held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi later in the day.

This is the first visit to China for Khurshid as India's newly appointed Foregin Minister. His visit comes on the back of a border confrontation between the two countries that ended peacefully in the end.

Welcoming Khurshid, Wang Yi said China is willing to work with India to advance borders negotiations to seek a fair and reasonable solution. He also added that China wishes to jointly maintain peace and tranquility along the borders before a settlement is made.

Wang called China and India "strategic partners by nature", saying the bilateral relationship has more global significance. Wang also said both sides were preparing for exchange of high-level visits.

Khurshid said he wishes that the two countries take the opportunity provided by the high-level visits to expand cooperation in various areas.
