David Beckham has announced that he will retire, bringing his six-season stint in US Major League Soccer to an end with the December 1st MLS Cup against the Houston Dynamo. The former England captain announced his decision to retire to his teammates earlier Tuesday.
David Beckham, Los Angeles Galaxy Midfielder, said, "I think over the years when I've seen players retire, when you ask them about it, they always say you'll know when you're ready, and I think I know when I'm ready. You know, I think I'm ready. Obviously, it's a difficult decision because I still feel that I can play at the top level and still have done for the last six months, but I always secretly said to myself that I want to go out at the top, and if you had said to me eight months ago that I'd be winning the French league, winning the French Cup, winning the league, and finishing like this, you know, I would have probably said 'absolutely no chance,' but I was given the opportunity to come to PSG and I just feel now is the time."

The global superstar started his career at Manchester United, and has also played for Real Madrid and Los Angeles Galaxy.
On the international stage, Beckham made 115 appearances for England, playing at numerous international tournaments. Beckham also serves as an ambassador for the Chinese Super League and the Youth Football Program in China.
