President Xi celebrates International Children's Day

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for efforts to prevent harm to children as he visited the Beijing Children's Palace on the eve of International Children's Day.

Together with more than sixteen hundred representatives came from 56 nationalities, Xi took part in activities including football and planting vegetables. President Xi says his biggest wish is that children grow up in good health.

He said the Communist Party of China and the government, and everyone should create a better environment for children's study and growth. He also called for efforts to crack down on actions that harm children's rights. China's last census, shows in 2010, the country had more than 200 million adolescents and children under the age of 14.
