President Xi Jinping has met with his Mexican counterpart Enrique Pena Nieto, to discuss ways to deepen practical cooperation between their countries. They also exchanged views on major global and regional issues of common concern.

Xi Jinping is in Mexico City on a three-day state visit. The leaders reached agreement on allowing Mexican pork exports to China. And also discussed China sending a business delegation to Mexico for projects and market development. China is Mexico's second largest trading partner, while Mexico is China's second largest in Latin America. Last year, two-way trade stood at 36.7 billion US dollars.

The two countries also expanded cooperation in culture, education, science and technology, and tourism. Mexico is the last leg of Xi’s three-nation Latin America and Caribbean tour, which has already taken him to Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica.
