The annual forum which has been held by Fortune magazine since 1995 will take place between Thursday and Saturday in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The forum is one of the more well-regarded business summits in the world and also viewed as the originator of many of the world’s new economic trends.

This is the fourth time the conference is being held in China and the first time it will be held in the west of the country. Chengdu is the capital city of Southwestern China’s Sichuan Province, with a history of over 3-thousand years.

It is the economic powerhouse in China's West Development Strategy, which as the name suggests, aims to develop the western region of the country.
