Chin has welcomed Pyongyang and Seoul's agreement to resume contacts and dialogue.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said China supports any efforts by the North and the South to resolve problems and improve relations through dialogue and negotiation.

He said China hopes all parties will cherish the valuable and hard-won momentum that has been achieved through dialogue and work together to preserve peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.
