Rafael Nadal has won the French Open Tennis title in style, becoming the first man ever to win eight singles titles in one Grand Slam.

It comes after he coped with an on-court intruder and the Paris rain to beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer. The 27-year-old came through 6-3 6-2 6-3 to reaffirm his dominance on clay, and elevate himself into one of the tennis greats.

The match was briefly interrupted in the second set when a man wearing a white mask leapt onto the court waving a flare. The protester and an accomplice were soon bundled away by security guards. The incident failed to derail Nadal, who prevailed after two hours 16 minutes in a one-sided final.
