A report has confirmed that the hundreds of students hospitalized last Thursday in Sichuan's Meishan city with food poisoning symptoms consumed food contaminated with salmonella.

The medical report was released at a press conference Sunday afternoon. More than two thirds of the 386 infected students are still hospitalized. None are seriously ill. Local authorities say they are still investigating what caused the infection.

The students were hospitalized after showing symptoms of fever, vomiting, tiredness and dizziness. Nearly three dozen students failed to attend the high school entrance exam as a result.
