Typhoon 'Rumbia' to hit South China

A number of severe weather systems are threatening several parts of China.

Typhoon "Rumbia" hit near China's southern province of Guangdong on Monday morning, forcing authorities to issue a warning.

It’s now moving northwest at about 30 kilometers an hour, gathering strength along the way. It's expected to land in Guangdong and the southern island of Hainan late Monday or Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, there've been more warnings of heavy rain for the southwestern Sichuan Basin and regions near the Bohai sea in the northeast. Rainfall of up to 160 millimeters is expected to hit these areas on Monday and Tuesday.

Weather authorities are calling on local authorities to initiate precautionary measures.
