World-famous toy store Hamleys of London has revealed what it says will be some must-have toys for Christmas this year. A new tablet computer for toddlers, robotic animals and a lifelike prancing pony are among the hot items.

Hamleys of London predicts that the Teksta puppy, which costs around 115 US dollars and obeys commands to sit and do backflips, will be among the top ten most wanted toys.

It can even play music downloaded from an iPad.

Also in the much anticipated top ten is the very latest tablet computer for children, the Leap Pad Ultra.

The 190-dollar "ultra" version allows children to play, draw and write on a 7-inch, high-resolution screen, with cameras on the front and rear.

Laura Olver, head buyer of Hamleys, said, "It's a tablet that is for kids and very much about as good as you can get than borrowing your parent's I-pad without being exposed to the full internet. It is however an eight gb memory, a seven inch screen, it has apps but it comes protected in two ways -- one, when a kid drops it it doesn't break, which is brilliant, and two it is already pre-loaded with all the limitations a parent would expect so that kids can't run up big bills or access inappropriate material."

A top toy for the girls this Christmas will be the Monster High dolls, described by Hamleys as a cooler and funkier answer to Barbie.

Olver said, "Monster High is a great fashion doll. It's actually giving Barbie a run for its money at the moment, they're funky, edgy quirky dolls- a little but cooler than Barbie, less kind of conforming."

The Robo Fish, which retails for 21 US Dollars, may never go belly-up in the bowl or end up in the cat's claws, but parents will have to keep changing the batteries.

And for parents with somewhat deeper pockets, there is the prancing pony. At 1,296 dollars, it's almost as expensive as a real pony, but Hamleys insists that it's cheaper to maintain.

Also at the pricier end of the market is this luxury limited edition tutu, made with Swarovski elements and retailing for 381 Dollars. It's bound to be a dream come true for young ballerinas.
