Bo Xilai, former party chief of Chongqing Municipality, has been charged with bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power, according to Jinan City People's Procuratorate in east China's Shandong Province.

The indictment paper has been delivered to the Jinan City Intermediate People's Court today. The document says Bo took the advantage of his position to seek profits for others and accepted an "extremely large amount" of money and property. He also embezzled a huge amount of public money and abused his power, seriously harming the interests of the state and people.

The prosecutors say Bo has been informed of his legal rights and has been interviewed. His defending counsels have also delivered their opinions.
