At least 10 people have been killed and 5 others left missing in the city of Wenzhou after Typhoon Fitow brought torrential rains to East China's Zhejiang Province.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, over 250 thousand households in Zhejiang Province had been left without power. At least 10 thousand workers are trying to repair electrical lines. In the city of Yuyao, 70 percent of the downtown area has been submerged.

Typhoon Fitow has affected 7 million people in 11 cities in Zhejiang province, causing direct economic losses of 12.4 billion yuan. It has triggered heavy rain in the region, inundating roads and houses, and causing river breaches and power failures. But the rain eased in many parts of Zhejiang on Wednesday, bringing relief to rescue workers who are trying to help those affected by the storm.
