China, Australia to boost economic, education exchanges

Australian’s first female Governor-General Quentin Bryce has arrived in Beijing for her first state visit to China.

President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, State Councillor Yang Jiechi greeted Quentin Bryce and the high-level delegation. During the meeting between leaders of the two sides, President Xi Jinping praised the deepening ties between China and Australia. He noted both countries are key players in the Asia Pacific region and there’s great potential to boost cooperation in all fields.

Premier Li Keqiang welcomed Australia in investing in western China, and wishes the two sides will expand cooperation on infrustructure. Governor-General Bryce affirmed that Australia is committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation, and wishes to speed up negotiations on setting up FTA.

The Governor General will travel to Xi’an and Chengdu where she’ll address the opening session of the Western China International Fair.
