China-India ties enter phase of comprehensive development

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday afternoon.

President Xi called Singh an old friend of the Chinese people, and thanked him for his contributions to the development of China-India relations. He recalled his meeting with Singh on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in South Africa when they reached a consensus on the development of bilateral relations. Singh said the relationship with China is a "high priority" in India's foreign policy.

Earlier in the day, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Singh before witnessing a signing ceremony of nine documents.
