Well we've seen the models wearing the clothes, but what about the garments themselves? High-end and custom-made haute couture may seem far away from many people's lives. But let's visit one boutique now and check out what it takes to have a dress designed and made just for you.

Zhang Jingjing Haute Couture 2014 Spring/Summer collection

Designer Zhang Jingjing says that bespoke, haute couture design all starts with communication.

Zhang Jingjing, Fashion Designer, said, "We listen to client's requests and ideas. We summarize and give the client a rough draft. If the drawing meets the client's requests, we'll move on to finish the details. Once the blue print is done, the producing process begins. First of all, we make a blank dress to see whether it fits the client's size. Then, we'll get to work."

Prices vary according to Zhang Jingjing's client's demands, but bespoke pieces usually start from around 50,000 RMB.

"This dress was really hard to make. It took me over four months. The patterns are all hand-made, each pearl and each sequin. There are hundreds of thousands of them." Zhang said.

Haute couture is on the rise in China, as more and more people want to wear something special and unique. And it's not just for the super-rich. A more affordable 5 or 6,000 RMB will get you a tailored suit like no one else's.
